Ilkley Rocky Valley - Tuesday 24th May

High on Ilkley Moor, yet still less than a kilometer from the road, lies a valley with lots of rocks in. This suitably-named valley contains six buttresses of gritstone joy, and it is these that will delight us on Tuesday evening!

Parking at the Cow and Calf, whence we shall return for a post-crag pint, head onto the moor and avoid the temptation to veer off into the Quarry...

I should be there from 5:30-ish at number 3 buttress to start. Look for the bunch of people in Rocky Valley; I’ve got an orange helmet and will probably be wearing a blue jumper or coat depending on temperature…

Forecast is for a gorgeous evening after a wetter period earlier in the day, should dry out! Keep an eye on this thread for updates.

Great! I see you’re signed up on the website (hooray for committee powers), so don’t need to ask about that (any other newcomers, please make sure you are so you are covered by our liability insurance and we have emergency contact details and that you can, at the least, belay safely and have harness, belay plate, rock shoes and ideally a helmet).

However, I am torn by the idea of watching JR spray Agent Orange all over Transparent Wall.....Greenwashing in action!!
