Tuesday 30th Hetchell

Postby Will S » Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:55 am

Its the Hetchell meet this Tuesday Evening. Its a bit of an esoteric one. If you have a bouldering pad its worth bringing. There's some good traverses and highball problems.

If you don't have a pad bring your gear and do them as routes. I'll bring spare tops to make top ropes too. You can find crag info here:
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=1873

Its best to park here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.8751375,-1.4435257,3a,60y,37.85h,69.2t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s86cahIVK0QOpk1juMysRRg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en-GB

Post below if you want or can offer a lift, etc.

I'll be coming from Guiseley so should be there about quarter to 6.

See you there

I'm coming. James and I went last year when everyone bailed to Almscliff and I was impressed. The severe and the vdiff there are great and would be fine to lead. Some of the other stuff is on slightly softer rock, but if this concerns you then top roping is fairly legit and there are plenty of sturdy trees on top to rig.
Plenty of traverses and eliminates to boulder about on too. Lovely crag.

I may turn up in a non-climbing capacity as my thumb still isn't ready for climbing

Hi all

I’m a new member and not been on a meet yet. Done a year indoors at Leeds Wall (including lead) Got a rope, rock shoes, harness and a chalk bag but no gear. Can I join you?

If yes what time do you guys tend to climb from and to?

Thanks
Rob

Hi rob,

Yep of course come along most people get there for around 6ish. BTW have you signed up on the website? Best to do so before you come so we have emergency contact info etc for you.

See you there.

By the way everyone else, if you can lift share please do. Parking is pretty tight.

I'm going to come, but I may be on the spectator/heckler's bench with JR.

I'll try to come as well. I am still unsure how my work will pan out so may bail out at at the very last minute.

Also on the map I can see the parking from the main road is super limited. However there is another road parallel to the main one (Milner Lane). On Google Maps it looks like it's roughly the same distance than from the main road and it has more room to park. Was wondering if anyone tried to access the crag from that direction?

Lukas,

That's a good suggestion. It looks like a better place to park so I'll probably park round there myself.

Will Hunt, are there any restriction round there that you know of?

Is a helmet mandatory?
