Sensible choice Helen - was that by luck or design?! I presume you went there with Ben?

Of particular note was the complete failure of both the Langcliffe attendees to keep emotional composure on their ascent of Milky Buttons - a 45m long 6a+ where the easiest line to take is rarely obvious and a fall from above many of the bolts might leave you a little sore.

I, being the strong and silent type, simply overgripped, overchalked, and quietly whimpered my way through some testing traverse moves to arrive at a doubtful-looking piece of rust masquerading as a bolt, before issuing a quiet "#### this" and pulling on said bolt to get it clipped. A quick check of the logbook tells me that this is the first time in over ten years that I've failed on such a route, which automatically makes it a great evening. Being caught out like that and taught a lesson is a gift to be treasured.

James, on the other hand, let fly with an unabating stream of obscenities, complaints and appeals to the good Lord which was simultaneously gripping and hilarious.
"This foothold is #### LOOOSE"
"There's no #### holds"
"I really should have got you to strip this"
"This is serious now"
"I really can't fall off here"
"This is not funny" (an uncharacteristically inaccurate statement)

Here's to next week, when we can do it all over again.

Thanks Will, now I'm having to try and explain to my colleagues why I'm snorting with laughter.

You may laugh, but it got me up the damn thing didn't it?! ;-)

Anyway, I was *obviously* trying to keep your mind off the midgies!
