The crag end is the one up in the woods past boot crack and the sugar loaf.

If you are parking on Leeds road please be very careful and don't door any cyclists.

Given the forecast, I'm not expecting Will Hunt approved sIcK KoNNiEs (tm) so it might be worth getting kitted up for another litterpick when we've had enough of sliding off things and getting eaten by midgies!

Also, if you see any Himalayan Balsam - jump on it & pull it up.

At this time of year try not to touch Himalayan balsam.

It has elastically dispersed seeds which can be set off at the slightest touch, and are very easily spread. Great fun to watch!

The pulling and stamping time of year is spring and early summer ideally before it starts to produce seeds.

Having had a quick look at the logbook am I right in thinking this is more of a bouldering meet than climbing?

I'm quite keen to come along but I've only climbed outdoors once (last year) and although I've climbed regularly at Leeds Uni would say I'm definitely a novice when it comes to outdoors climbing.

What do you suggest, leave it to another week elsewhere or come along?

Caley crag is roped climbing, but you are right that there is lots of bouldering around as well No time like the present etc etc

Hi sue,

As Lindsay says the section of caley that we will be at is a crag with routes so it is intended at a ‘trad’ meet although there is plenty of bouldering there too. There are not that many beginner friendly routes there so what you get done I suppose will depend on what other people have planned.

Does anyone have any routes in mind that they want to get done or top rope?

I can’t make it unfortunately but I hope you all have a great time, the weather is looking amazing!

I'll keep an eye on the BB and any further posts to see what others are planning to do and hopefully I'll come down and get some more experience of 'proper' climbing!!

If I don't make it tomorrow fingers crossed for the weather and Almscliffe the week after next .

Joey, I'll be leaving from Armley (which is like a stone throw away from Burley) so if you can get to where Pet Shop is in Armley (LS12 2LY) between 5:20-5:50pm you can come with me. However, I'll be picking up Karolina at 6pm.. so the soonest we can get to Caley is around 6:30-6:45pm. Hope that makes sense.
