Hi Tom,

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this! Afew people seemed interested last night, I cant make it I'm afraid so can anyone volunteer to lead this meet?

For those who haven't been before you can find the crag location and routes list on UKC:
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=88

Have a good one!

Will

Hi Will,

Happy to do the meet leader duty, you've already done the hard work by posting the details!

It ties in nicely with some cat sitting duty down that way on Saturday night.

I'm hoping to come and I'm sure I can round up a decent handful of beginners.

Will has already put up a post with a link to details about the crag, but, in short:

It is not far from Stanage so the rock is very similar
it is not as high as Stanage so many of the routes, especially towards the carpark end, can be done as Highball problems above a mat.
It is incredibly accessible - two minutes from car to crag.

All in all a great little crag and well worth a visit.

As of Thursday evening the forecast for Sunday does not look great. However, it has been evolving a lot recently, so there is every chance it could change before Sunday. I'll cross my fingers and assume it will be good enough to climb. Also, a trip is worth doing with even uncertain forecast - if it comes to it Sheffield is a short drive away and the indoor climbing there puts Leeds to shame (this will be Jen and my back-up plan).

I suggest getting to Burbage for around 10am - the car park can fill up.

Who's coming? Post if you're interested, and also mention if you need or can offer a lift.

Hopefully see you all Sunday.

Hi
I 'should' be able to make it, if it's raining I'm also up for indoor climbing as a back up plan

Forecast for Sunday still looks a little unsettled but Jen and me are still planning to give it a go. We'll stop by Burbage North 10-10:30 and either climb or head into Sheffield to a wall if conditions poor.

Any other LMC climbers planning to come along?

Myself, Lindsay S, Gwenver and Hayley are planning to do the same, Tom. Sarah might as well.

Gonna give it a miss, weather looks uninviting. Think sarah, Hayley, and 2x Lindsays also no longer going.

Meet Report

In the end it was just Jen and me that showed up for this but we did our best to make it a bona fide climbing trip.

We'd been in Buxton the evening before for some traumatic cat sitting duty (the cat that was sat, brought a mouse into the house; the cat wanted to play, but the mouse ran away...)

On Sunday morning it was raining in Buxton and the rain continued as we drove over to the Eastern edges. As we passed Froggatt we could see the edge looking wet and just touching the cloud. Seeing this we skipped Burbage and went straight to Awesome walls in Sheffield.

It is a great place - long routes and plenty to go at. Yes it's indoors, but it's still climbing, right?
