Blackrock Cottage, Glencoe 11/12th January

Postby Kharrison23 » Tue Dec 04, 2018 11:35 am

Booking will be opening on Tuesday 11th December for the first Scottish winter meet of 2019.

It is at Blackrock Cottage in Glencoe (PH49 4HZ. OS map 41, GR NN268530), often described as spitting distance* from the Clachaig Inn.

There are a total of ten beds, and I have already had a fair bit of interest in this meet! My address is in the private section and I will be heading to see the Free Solo film in Leeds on Tuesday.

In honour of the founders of the Ladies Scottish Mountaineering Club, we will be allocated famous female climbing/mountaineering icons. The hut website, which has an interesting page on the history of the club is provided below:
https://www.ladiesscottishclimbingclub. ... k-cottage/

As this is a Scottish winter meet, with a high likelihood of winter conditions, attendees must have the necessary equipment for their chosen activities, the club does not provide any equipment. For winter walking crampons and an ice axe, as well as knowing how to use them is a minimum.
For more information see the Constitution and Handbook (https://leedsmc.org/handbook) or feel free to contact me.

Looking forward to the meet ...glad I've got a place

Sorry if I've missed it but I can't see anything on the Bulletin Board advising us of fees for 2019 yet....how much are these?

Subs for 2019 are remaining at £19.

John N has popped up a post in the private section with payment details viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5795 (also mostly unchanged from last year, except for the treasurer)

Although the meet is full a couple of people are waiting in the wings, so if anyone else is interested I am currently aware of availability in huts nearby and we could look into forming a splinter group.

In addition, a small cohort (small in number not stature; Paul, Les and Paul), have extended their stay at the hut for the Sunday and Monday evenings as well. If anyone would like to join them or would like me to enquire about booking any additional nights then please let me know.

I wouldn't mind spending an extra couple of days up there, but it would depend on transport and if anyone else was able to do so. Does anyone want a belay bunny for some easy winter climbing? Is anyone planning to do some easier unroped scrambling? I would be up for this sort of thing if anyone else is.

Cheers

Mike

I can stay up there the following week rather than the the Thursday or Friday. I can travel from about 12 on the Friday.
If that suits we should make arrangements.

Cheers

I'm heading up Friday evening. I finish work at 4 so I'm wanting to head up as close to then as possible if any one wants to lift share?

I'll be coming home on Sunday. As I'm only there for 2 days I'd like to make the most of Sunday so so will mean a late drive home.

Will, it'll probably make sense for you and I to drive up together.

Don't think we'll have much need for winter gear, unfortunately :-(
