Second Scottish Meet 7/8th Feb - Raeburn Hut, Laggan

Postby Kharrison23 » Sun Jan 05, 2020 6:03 pm

The second Scottish adventure will be at the SMC's Raeburn Hut in Laggan, Cairngorms.
In their own words: 'This hut was newly constructed in 1988 and named after Harold Raeburn who joined the Club in 1896 and was an outstanding early influence on Scottish mountaineering. It is one of the most comfortable of our huts and the view out is a superb vista across Strath Spey to the Monadh Liath hills. The hut is centrally placed for the Cairngorms to the east, and the winter routes of Creag Meagaidh to the south-west. The rock climbing on both Creag Dubh, Newtonmore, and Binnein Shuas are also only a short drive away. '

Located north of Dalwhinnie off the A9, this hut is the best of both worlds, being driveable for Fort William and Aviemore so you can follow the connies to the correct corries if winter climbing. There is a dedicated mountain biking centre in Laggan - Wolftrax, with lots of single-track and bike hire.

Adress for cheques is in the private section. There is normally good availability to extend your stay, check with me and we can arrange this.

Highest quality stationary award goes to Mr Paul H, I thought I was finally receiving my knighthood when the envelope arrived, alas not this time!

Anymore for anymore? There was a good snow pack in some of the gullies which should provide a good base for more snow forecast this week, things are looking good for this meet!
