Tour de Nidderdale Mountain Biking - Sat 16th October

Postby Graham J » Tue Sep 28, 2021 2:31 pm

LMC dirt shredders get ready for a corker of a day out as we hit the Tour de Nidderdale on Saturday 16th October!

The route is about 35km with 722m of elevation gain and as far as guidebook grading goes it’s considered “red” - so best suited to hardtail or full sus MTBs, but a capable gravel bike will be able to handle it all too.

Highlights include bird spotting, cow dodging, tarmac grinding (at 25%!!), collectively swearing at whoever resurfaced the Middlesmoor track, cruising along at the top of the world with the beauty of Nidderdale stretching out beneath you before whooping with delight down one of the best ‘natural’ descents in Yorkshire! What it lacks in teashops, it makes up for in pubs – plus reservoirs galore for all you fact-fans!!

Meet at Gouthwaite Reservoir carpark at 10:00am, fully lubed and ready to party. W3W: ///disgraced.slime.wasps

All your Covid rules apply – take a test and no licking other members etc.

Please ensure your bike is in good working order and you’ve got all the spares etc you need to be self-sufficient.

As per LMC bikey day out rules, we travel slow and heavy; so all are welcome! #noshredderleftbehind

We can extend the route into Pateley Bridge if you prefer? It adds an extra 10km of road riding though?

One last bump of the thread to see if there are any more takers ahead of tomorrow's delightful jaunt around Nidderdale?

Hi sorry for the late post - wasn't sure if I could make it! I would like to join you though please. I'm going to test you on if it's gravel bike able haha. See you later.

Despite the weather not exactly playing ball (until we were in the pub!) thanks to all for making this another marvelous outing!

Cows were dodged, tubes were burst, hills were climbed, gnarl was shredded, gills were wooed.

Good times!

And a thanks from me too!

Definitely a loop I'll be doing again - it's reasonably weather proof which l'll be vital for the coming months!
