Re: Buttermere 22nd/23rd July Camping Meet - booking open!

I am travelling up in transporter van from Huddersfield area Friday morning. Planning to stay on an extra couple of days. Could offer one lift but appreciate my schedule might not be that helpful.

Re: Scotland this weekend Feb 25-27th

Hi Steve, hope your well. Keith Tilley and I were planning on going up this weekend but looking at weather couple of days ago the winds still looked significant. On that basis we have decided to delay it a week or so. Conditions should be building nicely now. Fair bit being done on the Ben. Bit of f...

Re: Wasdale Inn Campsite 6th-7th August

John, looking at the forecast it is pretty marginal for me. I will keep checking the weather forecasts and the BB but unless someone has connections and influence with the weather gods I think it’s unlikely I will make this. Real shame as Keith and I were there a couple of weeks ago during the heatw...

Re: Wasdale Inn Campsite 6th-7th August

John, put me down for the meal too please. Thinking optimistically, it would be good if you could make it as late as possible e.g. 8pm to allow time to get down and shower etc. Can’t make Midnight Bell session but I will keep an eye on BB for plan details/changes.

Re: 2020 - That was the year that was...

I enjoyed reading these posts so here is my contribution> 1. Dovestone Tor This was first ‘realising of the hounds’ weekend after lockdown 1 in late May. John M and I headed for Dovestone Tor as we thought it would be quiet. Others had the same idea but the weather and views were fantastic weather. ...

Re: Alpine but not alpine - guidebooks / experiences

Hi Steve Yep that would be good thanks. Keith Tilley and I are planning to head to Chamonix in September but it would be good to have those guides too just in case weather is better that way. John and I have been talking about a trip to Almscliffe one day/ evening and could link up there if that wor...

Re: isolation videos

Thanks all for sharing these videos really enjoyed them and very much appreciated. Particularly the last two skiing ones. Both inspirational in different ways but truly uplifting in a time when we really need it.

Re: Alpine but not alpine - guidebooks / experiences

Hi Steve, Kat Keith Tilley and I had a fun trip to Switzerland a couple of years ago based around Meiringen (home of Reidenbach falls and the final confrontation between Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty). Loads of multi pitch climbing of all grades in super alpine environment but without complication of...

Re: New Hut Meet Booking System Proposal for AGM Vote

Is it possible to have an online booking system which just requires you to click a "book" button? Then fill out payment details and confirm a commitment to pay. Agreeing that payment will not be taken (automatically) until after the meet. Dave/Karl (or Luke) Just to add to the IT shopping...

Re: New Hut Meet Booking System Proposal for AGM Vote

I agree with outline. I would go one step further though and make it totally electronic. Book your place online and settle electronically. If you are booked on you must pay before the meet. Sending letters and cheques is pretty inefficient and adds lots of unnecessary non value activity and effort. ...

Re: Annual Dinner 15 - 16 November

MWIS are making noises about low freezing levels and snow falling this week; does anyone know where we can check conditions this early into the season and is it worth throwing a walking axe in? https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/conditions/uk_winter/ David, this link on UKC is quite useful for logs...
