Pudset Depot - Tuesday 28th June - RAIN!!!!!

Post by JR »

EDIT - OH WELL - THE DESIRE WAS THERE, BUT THE WEATHER WAS WEAK (OR SOMETHING) - BACKUP PLAN ENGAGED.

Edit: Pudsey Depot from about 6p.m. if anyone's interested. The drizzle's reached the crag and it's going to be off and on there for the rest of the evening. It's not facing the breeze so it's not exactly going to dry out. Do still want to get there on another evening with better conditions!

Ok folks - who's interested in something a bit more off the beaten track - but still with a collection of great routes and bouldering?

Yes, it's Earl Crag time: - https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/earl_crag-542/

I'm fully aware that the forecast is against us - but let's at least gauge interest and agree on some backup plan(s) - EDIT - currently we should remain east of the rain, but I'll be keeping my eye on the rainfall radar all day. The backup plan is Pudsey Depot.

I hope to be at the parking by 6p.m.

Come equipped for midgies! We're on a NNW-facing crag with southerly wind! Shouldn't be too bad early on though.

Legal stuff: as ever we have to insist that you can lead belay safely, have your own harness and boots (and preferably a helmet too) and are signed up as a club prospective member - Alice, this means your friend will need to be as well I'm afraid.

I'm in, am considering bringing the mat and trying a couple of boulders too.

I'll come along too! Is the best place to park at the top of the crag?

There is a large but rather rough car parking spot above the crag. I'll be parked on the road as my car has no damn ground clearance.

Unless we get rained off. In which case no-one will be there!
