50th Anniversary Celebration

This is just to recap on what was discussed last night at the AGM in terms of the celebrations for our 50th anniversary.

The book will have the following contents:

Introduction including thanks to various members)
The Early Years
1960's
1970's
1980's
1990's
2000 and beyond
Cae Amos
Alpine memories
Worldwide Travel
Club Expeditions

The idea is to have an A5 book, similar to the FRCC Chronicle running at 200 pages with 60 colour photos at a cost of around £8.00 - £10.00 per book.
So far we have 95 articles over 172 A4 size pages, but I still need some more.

Paul Exley has promised me some more articles for the 1960's and 1970's as I only have two and 10 respectively.

I do need more articles for 2000 onwards, if anyone wants to contribute past articles to me then thats not a problem, as I only have managed to pick out 6, not having looked through from 2000 - 2007 newsletters.

The idea is that all the information has to be finalised by Easter, and that means that I need to know who wants a copy of the book as we initially thought of printing around 100 copies but we could go for double that. All club members past/present will be listed on the inside of the front cover and on the inside of the back cover.

Lisa has kindly offered to do the typesetting and only then will we know if any articles need re typing.

The launch of the book will be at the Annual Dinner
In addition to the book we plan to have a multitude of photographs for all the decades put into something like a cloud (cant remember what the technical term is) for members to look at and if need be download copies.

In addition to the book we also plan to introduce the 50/50 Challenge. which members can climb, walk, swim, cycle 50 or multiples of 50 to celebrate this awesome club.
We could even climb 50 peaks at the same time in the Lakes if people wanted.

I did ask about a new 50th anniversary T shirt, but not sure if people are that keen (John)

Phew hope I have covered everything.

That just about covers it Ken - and makes the minutes easier to write ;-)

The other thing agreed was to get this as a separate forum I believe, so it doesn't get buried.

Hi New forum Topic created & Thread Moved.

I'm not against t-shirts its just a nightmare to get them done.

Took me 2yrs to get them finalized last time.

I can get a reprint of the last ones with 50 symbol in them ?

Regards John

Ken

Pete Sharp wrote a great little article about climbing at Shipley Glen, a satire on the new fad of numerically grading moves. Very funny I thought but i seem to have lost my copy. It's a 70's article i think. Do you need any photos to cover the different decades? Anything else we need to do?

Hi Simon,

Yes that one has been included, would love some general pics of the 70's/80's if you have any you think would be good to include, especially people like Pete Sharp, Phil Dickinson, Andy lawson etc. Real characters, just like now really lol.

If you have any newsletters from the 1980's you could look through as my copies have all gone astray. I can post a contents list on here and authors to give you an idea of what I have so far if thats will help?

This all looks good Ken. Most important thing is to get EVERYTHING in asap. It is not a good idea to have things arriving after the Editing etc gets started.
:D

We have all the articles for the 1990's now and are now looking for any photos from that decade. - Thanks to J Pulford for his Photos as well as those links in the other thread.

We also need an editor to go through the pieces and check them over and edit if needed. THANKS to the Guilfoyles for stepping in to offer to help for the 1990's

Thanks
