Walking Sunday 15th August

Post by xphoenix0 »

Hello,

There is a walk planned for this weekend, around Rosedale Abbey, would be good to see people out and about.

Steep and winding routes on either side of the dale lead down to the village of Rosedale Abbey, Despite its name, there never was an abbey here – just a small Cistercian nunnery, of which only a stone turret or belfry remains in the village churchyard. Although quiet now, a flourishing ironstone industry transformed Victorian Rosedale – see the massive stone kilns and other relics on the line of the former mineral railway, above the village.
there is a also a pub half way...

walk is around 10/12 Miles with a pub stop, if you have not been before its well worth the visit, there is a bit of everything on this walk.

Starting at 10am, meeting in the village green.

Thanks John
