Post here if you would like a place on Wednesday's 30km loop starting in Otley. You dont need a road bike as such but route will be all on road.

Meeting at 6pm in the Carpark behind the courthouse (on North Parade).

I'm also interested, but it will depend somewhat on work - I'm expecting a hectic few days.

Cheers,

JR.

Oh! Interest already? Great!

Yes, as Hayley said, let’s do a road ride from Otley on Wednesday night.

Meeting at 6pm in the Carpark behind the courthouse (on North Parade).

Plan will be to get back before it’s too dark so that gives us about 90 mins to play with. Depending on who signs up will dictate just how hilly the route. Choices in my head are:

1) Hilly - Up to Fewston and Swinsty
2) Medium hilly - Castley / Weeton / Almscliff
3) something flatter if we need it

As we will be chasing the last rays of September sun, lights will be required (just in case).

Also of note, we are not a cycling club, so this will be a steady old pootle about. Don’t expect to be hitting your Strava PBs and keep any aggressive MAMIL cliche behaviour away from this delightful social outing.

Let’s play bikes!!!

Just as a reminder to all those coming along;
As with the risk of accidents whilst climbing, mountaineering, walking, the meet leader and the club cannot be responsible for any COVID risk. Attendance at an event is purely at the risk of the individual attendees. All attendees should familiarise themselves with the latest government guidance and follow the guidance accordingly.

Our approach ( which is not exhaustive, continually to be updated/reviewed) is as follows;
• We will be retaining records of who attended on a meet, and require your contact numbers to be up to date on the club database for purposes of track & trace.
• You should take Gel/Hand sanitiser and use regularly.
• No sharing of food or drink
• Keep social distance
• Any sign of COVID symptoms from an attendee or a member of their household you should not join the meet
• Positive COVID test result – should not attend a meet until a health official has stated you can return to normal society !
• Follow government guidance on travel
• Meet leader – Welcome briefing to be held with focus on COVID/social distancing

We have taken advice from the BMC information listed here; https://www.thebmc.co.uk/covid19-restarting-club-meets

All, sorry but there’s no way I’m going to finish work before 7pm tonight. I’ll have to miss the ride.

Rule number 1 when leading your first meet; don't lose any of the attendees.

***10 minutes into the ride: "where the **** is James?!?!?"***

But yes, a rather splendid little jaunt out in the fading sunshine - thanks everyone who attended and no worries to those who couldn't make it. We'll get some more on the calendar soon (although evening rides may be limited as we head into Autumn :( )
