Climbers Self Rescue Courses
EDIT 6th Oct - booking details now at end of thread - please book and pay as soon as possible
EDIT: We have pencilled in the weekends of the 13th/14th November and 4th/5th December - please fill out the form linked below to let me know your availability. No worries if you can't make any of the dates, please select that option on the form. If needed we can look at getting extra dates pencilled in and even go to early 2022. This is just a first attempt! https://forms.gle/MUqQzKMzmvN9bBHw8
We've had some interest in some self rescue training (thanks to those who approached me to ask about this) so I have spoken to Peak Mountaineering and they can offer a course for LMC members.
The course is suitable for competent trad leaders (ie confident in placing gear, building a belay and bringing up a second - no grades required) who are LMC members. It is especially useful for those interested in multi-pitch or sea cliff climbing and will be a 1-day course (approx 9:30-4:30) based in the Peak District, typically around Hathersage. The date(s) will be agreed with the instructor and the people in your group once we have finalised who is attending.
The course will be run in groups of 4 costing £55 per person (a good discount from just signing up individually) and an example syllabus is shown below.
Please let me know if you would also be interested in this training (post below or email leedsmc@gmail.com) and if we have enough takers I will plan additional sessions. The course will be tailored to the people attending so if you have some previous knowledge of any of the topics please let me know when you sign up and I can try and match people with those of similar ability.
As always if there is any other training you would be interested in, let me know and if we have enough interest we can organise it. Example courses can be found on the Peak Mountaineering website: https://www.peakmountaineering.com/

Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
I have done something before but would be keen to refresh
Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
Ditto I have done self rescue course previously but could do with a refresher. I've not covered rescuing incapacitated lead climber on a traverse that sounds useful!

Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
You're welcome! We can split groups up by ability and then organise a date that suits everyone in the group so it should be possible to find a date you can doCathS wrote:I'd be up for the advanced course as a refresher if it's on a day am free.

Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
I am interested in this! Don't have much previous knowledge.
Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
Hi, I have some previous experience (what is covered in the SPA qual) but I’d like to learn more.
Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
I was about to book something like this at full cost so I'm glad I held off. The full course if possible please.
Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
Full course please!
Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
I’d like to do the introductory course, please.
Re: Climbers Self Rescue Courses
Thanks for organising this.
Yes please.
Probably advanced as I have been on one before and would like to refresh and iron out the bad habits I have acquired.
