Cae'r Fran 2022/04/01-02
Lateral Flow before you go!
Come and hang out with your old pals in Llanberis. Who knows, it might not even rain this time.
For hut info:
https://merseysidemc.org/hut/information
For address info: https://merseysidemc.org/hut/getting
Main points from hut document I have just received:
- approach gate must be kept closed
- Aim for parking 4 cars in layby at top of path. The sheep pen on your right as
you drive up the hill serves as an overflow car park. Allow turning space at the uphill end of the layby (by the tree) for entering and exiting the sheep pen. Further parking is available 200m up the road on the left, and higher up on right opposite some ruin.
- hut is on a farm, so take off outdoor shoes to avoid tracking poo around
- no tea/ hand towels provided
- use the kitchen boxes provided for your food and close lids firmly to avoid attracting field mice
- dry room has 2 hour timer, Drying gear in relays
works better than completely cramming the place full.
- not sure if loo roll is provided, so I suggest everyone packs one just in case!
- Hut key info in private section. I will also send this to Jez. If anyone else doesn't have access to the private section, let me know.

Whoop! Looking forward to it!
Worth saying that this hut is of medium difficulty to find and reach - trust the directions, you are driving high into the hills above Llanberis and through at least one gate before parking in a field (with concrete underlay) or limited lay-by parking. It’s then a 200m walk along a muddy track, so rewards effective packing and your headtorch being find-able…!
I’m happy to drive, space for one or two at a squeeze, leaving from Moortown reasonably early (3-4pm ideally, but can go later if no one else is able to get away then) - and equally happy to be driven!

From that description I had to check I hadn't stayed there before, but it was the even more remote Yr Helfa. Just made payment by BACS Tayah

With regards to lifts it looks like me, Clare and Maddie are car sharing
Re: Cae'r Fran 2022/04/01-02
One spare place, any takers?
Re: Cae'r Fran 2022/04/01-02
RE communal meal, would anyone like to suggest a cusine? I was thinking, I haven't been on a meet with a Middle Eastern theme yet. I could make some plant mince koftas, homous and toum (an egg-free, obnoxiously garlicy mayo). I also have the most delicious chicken shawarma recipe if anyone were interested in making that? Just a thought, others suggestions very much welcome.

I'm interested - I've sent you a message Tayah.

I love that we have been through so many cuisines!! As Pudding master Ponting has swooped in again before me, I am happy to contribute, will have a think what I can make/bring.
Re: Cae'r Fran 2022/04/01-02
Middle Eastern sounds lovely although I'm not sure what I can contribute as I haven't cooked it before. It will more likely be sundries like pitta bread and olives! Looking forward to next weekend.

Re: Cae'r Fran 2022/04/01-02
Does anyone want a lift, or want to offer a lift, for next weekend?
I'll be leaving from SW Leeds, about 10 minutes from either Elland Road or IKEA junctions of the M621.
I can go early on Friday if the weather is looking okay or after work as normal.

Re: Cae'r Fran 2022/04/01-02
Right - after some investigation, my car appears to now be happy again, so I can offer a lift:
obvious people to share with would be Luke and Alice since they're in Bingley close to where I live.
I'll be leaving post-rush hour on Friday evening.
I could take up to 3 passengers if people are sensible with packing.
It's looking cool but generally dry and bright in current forecasts, so climbing should be an option, so some of the 'low altitude' sunny multipitch in the pass or trad and sport options out on Anglesea.
Cheers,
JR.
