10/11th June Camping meet Holyhead

Post by JR »

Seacliff action anyone?

We have a group booking for the 'Outdoor alternative' campsite: (https://www.outdooralternative.co.uk/find-us/) on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June.

This is conviently located very close to the Rhoscolyn cliffs, and slighlty further north is 'The Range': both are generally single pitch with a wide variety of grades, with the added advantage that many routes are non-tidal (in a good sea-state). Obviously there's the option of many easier lines @ Holyhead Mountain too. Even if the weather is poor, the coastline and it's contorted geology is spectacular. There's even limestone sports climbing if you know where to look!

Edit: tide times for this week and wekeend: https://www.tideschart.com/United-Kingd ... olyn-Head/

Edit: strong SW'ly winds are forecast on Saturday and this is the closest sheltered option on Anglesea: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/benllech-9237/

!!!!!!IMPORTANT BIT!!!!!!

We have to pay the site on entry, so I'm going to have to collect the fees beforehand,
THE CUTOFF FOR HAND DELIVERED FUNDS WILL BE THE ALMSCLIFFE MEET ON TUESDAY 7TH JUNE.
For those not able to make it to Almscliffe, I'm going to put my BACS details in the private section. Please ensure your name is the payee reference so I can confirm who's paid.
IF YOU DON'T PAY ME, YOU WILL HAVE TO SORT ENTRY YOURSELF.

Helen has kindly forwarded the booking info from the campsite and it is saying:
£12 per person per night,
£2.50 per dog per night,
but nothing about the £2 per car the website mentions!

Anyway - who's in?

1. James Rowe

I've received, or have payment pending from the following people, I can hold on for a bit longer before I have to return the booking form (yes, we have to do that!) so if there is further interest, please send me the £24 for the camping to the account given in the post in the private section today:

2. Peter Coldham
3. Luke Smith
4. Amy F
5. Tayah H

Car Shares:
Thus far Luke and Peter have taken the Friday off so they are leaving in the morning and getting some climbing in en route.
Amy and Tayah are likely to be lkeaving at tea-time.

Cheers,

JR.

I'm in, I've also taken Friday and Monday off, will I need to sort out those extra days with the campsite in advance myself?

Yes, you will do I'm afraid - the campsite just expects a group from the LMC (of up to 20 I think) on the given dates (10th, 11th).

Sounds awesome! Such an amazing place to climb. Is there someone who wanted to buddy up for some of the HVS-E1s at Gogarth North Stack & Main Wall?

James - North Stack should be ok bird ban wise - less sure about Main Wall these days. We can start to pair people up once we get a better idea of who's interested.

Penny - I've got to return a booking form prior to our arrival, plus they require the group to have a single person pay on entry for everyone.

For maximum fuel savings I can take up to me plus 4 with plenty of space in the boot for stuff. Leaving as soon as everyone is ready on Friday and coming back Sunday.
