Buttermere 22nd/23rd July Camping Meet - booking open!
Re: Buttermere 22nd/23rd July Camping Meet - booking open!
Assuming Saturday's still viable - I'm still after a climbing partner - Keith - you look like you're the only one not already paired up?

Pub dinner looks tempting for Saturday night

especially with rain coming in. Anyone bringing a gazebo?

I'm up for the pub!

With regret, Keith and I are going to have to cancel. I have injured my shoulder, so going to get it checked out at ED. I can't drive at all, and need Keith to be my chauffeur.
Apologies for late cancellation.
Please open up these places to someone else.
If unable to fill and cost to pick up, happy to do so.
Gutted.

No problem Kate, hope you can get sorted

It's looking bit wet for a small tent but I'd still like to come. Would anyone have space in their car for me please as my lift share arrangements have changed? Can't leave until 5pm as not enough notice to book a early finish

I'm happy to give Clare a lift and to climb with Jr if that suits you both.

Due to the worsening forecast me and Ian are bailing.
It’s not good enough to do what we were panning and the fuel price is an issue these days.
Apologies.
Cheers

I'll be heading up as soon as i've woken up after tonight's night shift. Probably around 5pm if anyone else is going to be there at that time. I might eat at the pub on Saturday, but I also have food to cook.

Alice and I are going to bail on this one on account of the poor forecast. Sorry everyone
Re: Buttermere 22nd/23rd July Camping Meet - booking open!
Apologies - I too have bailed - the forecast is such that climbing on the high mountain crags accessed from that part of the Lakes won't be viable - and I've always got jobs to be geting on with at home, so I may as well save fuel and get on with those!

For those hardy souls still attending, campsite details:
When you arrive there are two gates - one signposted the campsite, you want the one NOT signposted on the left, they have a field booked just for us!
When you go in, park against the fence in the middle (nose or boot forward) so we can all fit. Pitch where you want. Campsite payment is in the green caravan behind the toilet block.

After checking the weather again and again (and couldn't believe how unlucky we are) we also decided to bail . I feel better but still weak after covid and coming in this weather is for brave ones

I have also decided to bail; have literally been waiting with a loaded car for MWIS to update to see whether the trend was getting better or worse, and the answer is worse - wind levels have increased to the point I’m not sure my tent will cope, and it’s moved from ‘showery’ on Sunday to heavy rain on-and-off all day… with petrol prices what they are and driving over alone, I can’t justify the cost for two days of being blown sideways off wet ridges! (Especially when the weather is much drier back in Leeds)

Update on last message!!! Field to the left is for parking only - camping is on main site. You can park in the main small car park to unload if you can find a space, or else park next to my car as pictured!!
