Responsibilities for Camping Meet Leaders are the same as for Hut Meets but there are not usually restricted numbers, payments to check (although prospective membership fees need to be paid to the club before attending) or keys.
Before the meet
- 1 month before - Use the club’s Bulletin Board to publicise the meet and update members on those signed up and availability of places.
- Talk to new/prospective members about what to expect, things they will need to take etc.
- If the meet is popular, consider notifying/booking the site for likely numbers attending.
- It is also important to promote lift sharing among signed up attendees as often there is limited parking spaces. New and prospective members should ideally travel with full members.
- Meets book - Ensure people fill in the Meets book each day so we know where people have gone, and make sure everyone has returned safely at the end of the day
- Look after new/prospective members to ensure they have adequate equipment and feel comfortable
- Ensure the rules of the campsite are followed i.e. BBQs/fires and noise curfews
- Pass Meets book to the next Meet Leader or a committee member
