Annual Dinner 2023 - Elterwater 10-12th November

Post by Peter »

This years annual dinner is in the Elterwater Hostel - https://www.elterwaterhostel.co.uk/, registration is open!

To those new to the AD, Saturday evening is a black tie optional event , so feel free to join us in your swankiest attire.

If you are one of the lucky 38 then please fill in the google form for dietary choice etc: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... sp=sf_link

Details:
- Self check-in from 4pm on Friday, keys for rooms will be inside reception. Please leave by around 11 am on Sunday.
- There are no parking spaces at all at the hostel itself unfortunately. Drop off at the gateway and park vehicles either in the NT carpark in the village (not manned overnight - maybe the best place for van campers) or on the roadside on the edge of the village. Car sharing is strongly encouraged.
- Breakfast is served at 08:15. Dinner on Saturday at 19:00. There is a self catered kitchen for other meals. You will risk missing out on breakfast if you are too late!
- Please don't drink your own alcohol during the Saturday meal (any other time is fine), there is a bar open 5-9pm on Saturday for this purpose. Probably best to get your drink before you sit down so they don't have to man it and serve food at the same time.
- Bedding is provided but towels are not, please bring your own. If you forget then there is some hire ones at 2.50 a pop.
- If we are lucky the LMC band will play again.
- Hostel has a drying room and lockable cycle storage. https://www.elterwaterhostel.co.uk/acco ... acilities/

I'm hoping to come this year.

Can you confirm how much it will cost for the weekend?

Also do you know what the NT carpark fees are if there's nowhere else to park?

Thanks, Cath

It's on the Google booking form, along with the menu choices.
£80 today, although I thought it was £92 last week.

The cost is down to £80 yup. When you factor in buying a drink and potentially parking it's back up to around last year's price though.

A couple of people have asked me if they can attend the dinner without staying in the hostel. Unfortunately the hostel have said they can't accommodate more than the 38 at dinner.

Sign up opens tomorrow! Please pay (£80) within two weeks of having your place confirmed.

On the size of the venue...last year (and many previous years) we struggled to fill the bigger hostel and nearly lost money. The committee chose a smaller venue to reduce the chances of that happening again. Hopefully most who want to go are still able to. If it's very oversubscribed we will of course pick a larger one next year.

Here's a question - does the hostel now have somewhere secure to stash bikes? I recall in the past it being a bit limited.
There's a great (mtb) loop that with a tiny bit of modification can go straight past the hostel.
